Meet the dream team!

We are truly inspired by the dedication of these incredible individuals who are gearing up to take on the immense challenge of a 26.2-mile run through London on 27 April in support of Tourettes Action.

The London Marathon is an iconic event, and we are thrilled to have such a passionate and determined team representing us this year. Their commitment not only raises vital awareness for our cause but also helps generate significant funds for the TS community, making a lasting impact.

So who are our heroes in green?

Gus Campbell

I’m humbled to be given the opportunity to run and fundraise for Tourettes Action. The charity does amazing things and works so hard to spread the word so people understand what it’s like to live with Tourettes. If I can help in spreading the word that little bit further by wearing the green vest and representing the Charity then it really would mean so much to me. I’m getting really excited and cannot wait until the event in April (eeeek).

Sarah Coldwell

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to run the London Marathon for Tourettes Action which holds a special place in my heart since meeting my friend who has a son with Tourette’s.

My decision to support Tourettes Action stems from both a personal connection and a deep admiration for the impactful work they do. Through my friend, I have heard about the daily challenges faced by the condition and for family members living with Tourette syndrome. The tics, the social misunderstandings, and the emotional strain which is clearly part of everyday life. Despite these challenges, I have heard of the incredible resilience and strength needed, and it has inspired me to contribute to a cause that strives to make life better for those affected by TS by running the London Marathon.

Rebecca Milner

My name is Rebecca and I will be running the London Marathon for Tourettes Action because my son was diagnosed in 2020. Although his Tourette’s is classed as mild, it still affects him daily. To sit either side of a room watching a film together and still be able to hear the cracking of his neck every time he tics is heart breaking, knowing I can’t do anything to make it stop!

Raising money to help with research against Tourette’s and raising awareness is the reason I’m running for this amazing organisation.

Tomas Nevar

I'm Tomas, and I began running to support my mental health. What started as a personal challenge turned into a year-long commitment to complete a half marathon every month, ultimately leading me to my most ambitious goal yet - the London Marathon 2025. As the UK's largest marathon and one of the World Marathon Majors, it presents an incredible challenge, and I am honoured to run it in support of Tourettes Action. Having Tourette syndrome myself, this cause is deeply personal, and I am committed to raising awareness and funds to support those affected.

In 2020 when most people we knew were focused on the pandemic, our family’s world was changing drastically but for other reasons. My daughter was experiencing significant anxiety and her tics had increased dramatically since starting secondary school but unfortunately covid complicated things. Professionals initially linked everything with the pandemic but we’d seen her struggle before this and it was really tough getting anyone to listen.

Eventually it was the school nurse who understood and was the first professional who mentioned Tourette syndrome to us. This was something we had not experienced before despite both my husband and I working with children for many years. Tourettes Action was the first place we went to in order to find information and support. It was invaluable in being able to understand our daughter’s difficulties, to speak to professionals and seek support, and led to a diagnosis of TS in 2021. We feel lucky to have had the chance to see a specialist and receive this diagnosis, despite no further support/treatment. We know others are not always as lucky and “luck” should not even come into it.

It is with the help and support of TA that we have been able to share information and increase understanding with the people we know, including in our professional work. My mum has been amazing at consistently raising money for TA and now it’s my turn to do the same.

I have enjoyed running for the past 10 years and have taken part in a range of races, but I have always wanted to take part in the London Marathon. This is the year I get to do that! I immediately knew that I’d want to raise funds for Tourettes Action to say a huge thank you and to continue to spread the word. Although my joints are getting a little creaky on the roads now, I am so grateful and excited to have this opportunity. London Marathon 2025 - let’s do this!

Chris Wright - Ballot place

I am running for TA for my daughter, Molly, who was diagnosed with Tourette's a couples of years ago. She is 13 now and from the age of about 4 has always had some form of tic. From the age of about 7 onwards they became much more obvious and have caused her pain and social anxiety. She manages well and is lucky to have the support of family and good friends. For her and everyone like her who suffer daily I will be delighted to raise awareness and funds for TA.
