Everything you need to prepare for the return to education

As the end of the summer holidays approaches, parents and carers may start to think about the return to school and what this may look like.

There are usually mixed emotions around this time of year. Some of us will be relieved, whilst others will be terrified of the reaction our children may have to this. These are both valid emotions. Let’s not forget that this can be a tough time for our children, adapting to this change of routine and they may experience a great deal of anxiety and possibly some school-based avoidance.

With the added stress that tics may bring to change, new situations, transitions to new education provisions etc. tics may increase, and this may be a good time to talk to your child’s school, college or University and offer some advice on how best to support your child through this transition. We know that knowledge and awareness of TS is key to gaining the understanding and support our children need. If you aren’t already familiar with our website and the useful information and factsheets we have for our children and families, then please do take a look at the links below to see if we can offer support to you at this challenging time.
