NICE Technology Assessment

NICE are performing a technology assessment to look at digital enabled therapy for tic disorders in CYP
NICE are performing a technology assessment to look at digital enabled therapy for tic disorders in children and young people. They will assess digital therapies for tic disorders in children and young people to determine whether they can be recommended for use in the NHS, based on the available evidence and cost-saving potential. As part of this work NICE will be recruiting for 2 committees:
- A lay specialist committee
- A medical technology advisory committee
1. Lay Specilist Committee
As part of the assessment looking at digital technologies for tic disorders, NICE want to hear what is important to people who have experience of tics and Tourette's.
They are looking for either:
- relatives or unpaid carers of a child
- someone from a relevant patient organisation or support group
- a person aged 16-25 with experience of digitally-enabled therapies for tic disorders
Full support and expenses will be offered for meeting attendance.

2. Medical Technology Advisory Committee
Nice are looking to recruit members now. They are looking for topic experts, specifically (but not limited to):
- child and adolescent mental health nurse
- paediatric cognitive behavioural therapist
- paediatric clinical psychologist
- paediatric neuropsychologist
- paediatric psychological wellbeing practitioner
- paediatric psychiatrist
- paediatric psychotherapist
- paediatric speech and language therapist
- paediatric neurologist.

There are no clinical guidelines for Tourette Syndrome and until now there has been no assessments or recommendations made by NICE. This study is a huge step forward and we encourage members of our community to apply to the committees to have your voices heard. We also urge members of the community to continue to write to your local MP and ICB to hightlight the lack of provisions local to you, we have template letters available here
