Opera-tic shortlisted for 2023 Royal Philharmonic Society Award

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Opera-tic has been shortlisted for the 2023 Royal Philharmonic Society Impact Award, supported by OUP Music in their centenary year.

The Impact Award is for an Outstanding initiative, individual or organisation in the UK that practically engaged and set out to have a lasting impact on the lives of people who may not otherwise experience classical music, demonstrating the positive, empowering role it can play in society”. This is a real celebration of Opera-tic and everyone who made it.

Winners will be announced on 1st March.

Opera-tic was co-created online, through a year of pandemic, by 15 adults with Tourette Syndrome from across the UK and composer Michael Betteridge, with film maker Alisdair Kitchen, as part of Second Movement and Tourettes Action’s co-creative opera making project Your Story, Your Voice, Your Stage.

It explores in song, sound and image what it means to live with Tourette Syndrome, to raise awareness and shine a light on the condition and those who live with and alongside it.

Your Story, Your Voice, Your Stage is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
