New TS Training Programme

We are expanding the training offered by Tourettes Action

Training

Our training team consists of:

  • Ione Georgakis - TA Advocacy Lead, who is an adult with TS and also a trained OT
  • Lucy Toghill - TA Education Manager, who is a mum of a child with TS and a trained teacher

Both Ione and Lucy bring a unique perspective to their training sessions, with their professional and personal experience of the condition.

 

What we can offer:

 

Parent Webinars

Length: 1 hr to 1.5 hrs

  • Webinar for parents awaiting a diagnosis
    • What are tics, when do they start, what can they look like
    • What are the different tic disorders
    • What are co-occurring conditions
    • How to prepare for a medical appointment
    • What can be done to support at school
    • What can be done to support at home
    • What makes tics worse / better
    • Explanation on educating the childs circle

Each training session is tailored to the individual organisation’s needs.

Examples of additional content can include:

  • Reasonable adjustments for employees or students with TS
  • Executive function workplace strategies
  • Targeted employee specific workplace recommendations (discuss individual needs with the employee and employer and make targeted recommendations for adjustments or strategies to support workplace wellbeing)
  • Targeted student specific recommendations (discuss individual needs with the teaching staff and pupil and make targeted recommendations for adjustments or strategies to support their education wellbeing)
