We have a vacancy for a new position at Tourettes Action.
Residential Events Manager
Salary: £20,400pa
Hours: 21 hours per week
Location:Working from home however expected to travel to visit and attend the residential weekend venues up and down the country, usually during the weekend
Tourettes Action is the only national charity advocating for and providing support to people with Tourette syndrome and their families throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
One of our priorities for the next five years is:
- To ensure that no-one with Tourette syndrome feels alone: Building a network of support for people with Tourette’s and their families, ensuring that no one living with or affected by Tourette syndrome feels alone.
This role is critical to our success in delivering this.
Job purpose
To ensure the efficient and safe provision of a range of residential weekend activities nationwide, whilst creating a fun, supportive and safe environment for attendees. The range of residential events to be delivered are:
- TIC fest events – weekend activity events for families to attend who have a child with Tourette syndrome
- TEEN fest events – weekend activity events where teens with Tourette syndrome attend without their parents
- Adult fest events – weekend activity events where adults with Tourette syndrome attend
Key Responsibilities
You will have strong leadership skills and a passion for working with people. You will plan, deliver and supervise the residential weekends, ensuring that participants have a memorable experience while adhering to Tourettes Action’s policy and procedure guidelines – attendees safety is paramount.
Who are you?
You’ll be someone who has:
- Experience/understanding of Tourettes syndrome and a belief in the value of TA’s work
- Excellent planning and organisation skills and attention to detail
- An outgoing temperament and excellent interpersonal skills
- Quick and effective problem solving in dynamic situations
- Ability to motivate, guide and manage staff and volunteers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent negotiating skills
- Able to work without close supervision
- Creativity and flexibility
- Not disqualified from working with children and vulnerable adults
- Able to respect confidentiality in respect of service users and others
- A clean driving licence
- A willingness to travel and work outside normal office hours
