Understanding and Supporting Tourette syndrome
Tuesday 4 June, 8pm
Online via zoom
Sunshine Support is an organisation who provide independent information, advice and support to parents/carers and professionals of children and young people with special educational needs.
They provide access to independent SEND professionals whose specialisms cannot usually be provided through local government and health authorities.
There is so much misinformation concerning Tourette syndrome and other tic conditions. It is vital that we understand the barriers that people with TS face in day-to-day life and at school so we can best support them and accommodate their needs.
TA Education Manager Lucy Toghill will deliver this informative session with information and resiurces to improve understanding of TS in the education setting.
This Session will include:
- What Tourette syndrome is
- Dispelling the myths about Tourette's
- What hidden barriers might someone with Tourette's have
- How Tourette's can impact on education
- What support you can get in education, home and community settings
- What are the best strategies to use in education and home
- How to get school to support your child
- What co-occurring conditions might your child have alongside Tourette's
As always there will be time for questions throughout the presentation.
Slides, references and CPD certificates will be available to attendees along with a recording to watch again for up to 30 days afterwards.
