Team Martin London Marathon Update!
Sandie and Jane, aka Team Martin, keep us up-to-date as they prepare for the Virgin London Marathon for Tourettes Action.
Training is now in full swing and we have our first long run under our belt completing 10 miles last week. We will now be adding an extra mile weekly with core training and gym sessions during the week to build us up nicely. We felt the pain after this first run and I was struck down with a chronic stitch at mile 5, but with Jane waiting in the distance and our fantastic family support we got it completed in 1 hour 40. We were joined by my 13 year old son Spencer, who also completed the 10 mile run, as well as Gary (my husband) and Wayne (Jane’s husband) and not forgetting my Dad, Paul, who has been with us every step of the way come rain or shine, on his fold up bike and a flask of hot coffee!
Our grand joint total currently stands at £2400! We have a quiz night planned plus a Masquerade Ball and expect a great turn out for both events. In between events we have been selling our crafts including Scrabble Frames and Book Folds with an added cake sale here and there. We have added our Tourette’s Action stickers to all our crafts ensuring the word is spread and we have had great feedback.
So on we go with our training and fundraising, counting down the days until the big day!
