Spotlight on Support Groups - East Midlands
Read more about our fabulous East Midlands Support Group from group leader Emily Briggs-Minton.
Hello everyone! We wanted to introduce ourselves and our wonderful East Midlands support group to you!
My names Emily and l run the group with my husband Dave, we have a daughter who has Tourette's and after several fantastic experiences at TicFest, we wanted to volunteer for Tourettes Action by providing a regular place for people in the East Midlands to meet.
Our support group is a friendly group who meet once a month.
At each session we have a craft activity on offer that's accessible for all. We often find the grown-ups like to take part in this as much as the children do. We've made all sorts of things over the last few months, from monster puppets and bats with googly eyes to valentines bears and cats!
As well as crafts, we always have several activities for those who want to be more active, whether that's skipping ropes, soft balls and hula hoops inside the hall or the children making use of the onsite outdoor playground and pitch.
We also believe that a good cup of tea can do us the world of good, so we always have refreshments at the ready for all.
Our group has a variety of attendees, both children and adults with a Tourette's diagnosis. Everybody is welcome and there's always someone on hand to offer an ear or to share experiences with.
New members are always welcome! We hope to welcome you at our next meeting. Check out the Community page on the Tourettes Action website and see events by region to find dates for our group.
