TS Passport
Funded by The Big Lottery, Tourettes Action commissioned the University of Nottingham to undertake research on improving the psychosocial experiences of adolescents with Tourette Syndrome.
Professionals worked closely with young people with TS to explore their psychosocial and educational experiences and to examine what factors influence tics and social interactions. The young people were aged between 10 and 20.
This research found that the experiences of adolescents with TS at school are more negative when teachers do not have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the condition.
In response to this study, Tourettes Action developed the TS Passport. This is a four sided document where young people with TS can add information about their tics and social situations that heighten/lessen their tics and a space for any medication, accompanied with their photograph. This is a perfect document for teachers, especially supply teachers as they can quickly and easily understand about the child’s TS.
To order your FREE copy, please email Venetia with the child's name, date of birth and your address and we will send one in the post to you.
NEW Downloadable TS Passports for adults and children
The new downloadable TS Passport is available to print at home with optional Tic Attack sheet. We have also created child friendly versions with images.
There is space to add information about your tics, things that can help and things that can increase tics, space to record any medication, emergency contact information and the option to add a photograph.
The Tic Attacks sheet will allow you to record details on how your tic attacks can present and how others can support you during an episode.
This is a perfect document to print off and carry with you, and to share with others if the need arises.
